Job Description

Department: Procurement

Role Purpose:

To oversee a team and take responsibility for all aspects of the organisation's material sourcing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide market intelligence and updates on new materials and applications to the Sales team.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with current and potential suppliers to position the organisation as their preferred customer.
  • Support commercial objectives by negotiating optimal pricing to secure new business and foster long-term growth.
  • Regularly review material costs and identify opportunities to maintain or improve profit margins.
  • Monitor market trends and adapt to changes in material availability.
  • Ensure that all materials purchased meet customer specifications and comply with relevant legislation and regulations.
  • Work with suppliers and logistics teams to minimise working capital without compromising customer service.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to enhance their On-Time In-Full (OTIF) delivery performance.
  • Support ongoing product development by sourcing new materials and suppliers.

  • Educated to degree level, preferably in a science-related field, with a professional purchasing qualification (such as membership in the Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply, CIPS).
