£105,000 - £115,000 + 10% bonus
Our client is looking for an inspiring technical leader to drive the next evolution of our cloud infrastructure. Under the guidance of their Chief Digital Officer their digital business is making huge waves in the Retail world and pushing the boundaries of retail experience online and in store.
The customer has rebuilt their core eCommerce platform and taken the new site through 2 phenomenally successful peak periods, they have got an exciting roadmap of revolutionary new features that will deliver magical customer experiences, as well as continuing to strengthen the foundations of their platforms. They're also looking towards global expansion and further growth that will require them to make some incremental improvements, but also some step-changes to the way their platform is structured and deployed.
The Engineering team is evolving into a world-leading DevOps team, using modern development practices and continuous improvement to keep improving and working smarter.
As the Lead Platform Engineer, you will:
Get the chance to lead the evolution of a exciting platform, from a solid base and working with a terrific team of Engineers, to enable their cross-functional squads to self-serve
Mentor and grow Engineers from associate to Senior Level, working with Engineering Managers to ensure that training plans are appropriate and challenging.
Continuously monitor and improve the platform and processes, ensuring they're investing in the right places to facilitate the ambitious growth plans for our business as well as innovative new features
Review and continuously improve their cloud infrastructure
Work with other engineering leads to ensure they have a future-proof infrastructure that enables strategic programmes such as automated testing, on-demand deployments etc
The ideal candidate will be very strong in the following:
AWS Core services, they actively use: Elastic Container Service, S3, RDS and Lambdas, Cloudfront, API Gateway, Elasticache and Cloudwatch
Knowledge of the wider AWS estate
System segregation and access controls suitable to a growing business
Knowledge of cloud CI/CD systems, preferably CircleCI, with an understanding of how to handle secrets and privileged access for those systems
Experience building and maintaining secure platforms
Running applications that autoscale and optimising autoscaling of services to ensure system availability and performance while balancing against resource usage
Providing advice and support to engineers of varying skill levels
Work planning and backlog management
