Job Description

Vira Health is a London-based digital health company focused on relief for the central pain points of menopause. Their ultimate goal is to decrease the long-term disability suffered by women due to osteoporosis, cardiovascular disease and dementia, through better care at menopause. Their first product is an app called Stella , which helps women manage a range of menopausal symptoms through personalised and evidence-based treatment plans. Stella is available whenever you need her - even the middle of the night!

About the role:

We are looking for a Full Stack Developer to join our in-house dev team. Working closely within a smart, collaborative, growing team you will hone your development skills to evolve our flagship app 'Stella'. You will be responsible for the systems that our team will use to manage user accounts, feed content to our apps and everything else in the back-end as the business evolves.

Naturally as this is a full-stack development role in a start-up, it's important that you are just as happy architecting the structure of systems as you are getting stuck in and writing code and that you are happy in an environment that values the team and its goals over job titles. We are scaling fast and whilst the below gives you a great understanding of your role and responsibilities, you can expect to get involved in more.

As Full Stack Developer at Vira Health you will:

  • Take a hands-on role in developing the architecture that powers the back-end code and front-end interfaces (excluding the native app code) used by our teams and users
  • Take responsibility for code quality, deployment processes and language/library/etc. choices
  • Be instrumental in choosing and introducing language choices along with back-end/web based architecture as our business evolves (Our beta back-end has been written in React, PHP and HTML/CSS)
  • Take responsibility for code quality, deployment processes and language/library/etc. choices
  • Understand and leverage appropriate code testing strategies (unit, integration, component, end-to-end, etc.) to ensure that everything you release is of the highest quality
  • Have excellent attention to detail both in interpreting the UI design along with the quality of the code you produce
  • Be a self starter in nature and be motivated to find and play your role within the team to deliver on the business's product objectives
  • Be able to handle the changing priorities and requirements that come when working within a start-up
  • Be excited about the opportunity your role has within changing the conversation around women's health
Desired experience:
  • Previous experience with architecting complex software systems
  • Development within React, PHP, JavaScript, HTML, CSS and hosting on AWS - our current stack
  • Git Workflow
  • JSON/REST APIs
  • MySQL or other RDBMS
  • MVC frameworks such as Symfony
  • Experience working in an app based business would be a benefit, as is experience gained within a start-up environment
-
  • A commitment to adapting how we work to fit a variety of new and existing needs; we are remote first so flexibility is really important to us
  • 25 days holidays plus bank holidays
  • Share options - we want everyone to have a share in the success

  • Your choice of tech equipment - whatever you need to get the job done
  • Wednesday yoga and regular wellbeing sessions

  • £250 (or local currency equivalent) to set up your home office if working remotely
