To support the development of next generation scientific instruments, as well as to expand into new applications and markets, we are adding an embedded electrical engineer to our team.


Job duties

· Design:

o VHDL design, simulation, and verification

o FPGA design, simulation, and verification

o Embedded controllers

o Ethernet connected controllers

o Analog circuits

o Schematic capture for custom electronics

o Motion control systems

· Understand requirements for custom electronics modules and how they fit into the system

· Research parts and components as well as existing designs that will meet the requirements

· Determine what part of the design will be captured in the FPGA and what will be discrete

· Create an FPGA that will cover the requirements

· Create schematics for digital and analog electronic systems using OrCAD

· Develop test methodology to verify the quality of finished products

· Practice sound design for quality, manufacturability, cost, reliability, and serviceability

· Provide engineering support to cross-functional teams

· Document processes, procedures, BOMs, drawings, schematics, test specifications, etc.


Qualifications

· Bachelor's degree in electrical or computer engineering required; master's degree preferred.

· At least 5 years of experience in circuit theory, digital electronics, FPGA design, embedded controller design, and systems integration.

· Proven ability to read and to interpret drawings and schematics.

· Demonstrated proficiency in the use of electronics test equipment.

· Experience with OrCAD, C/C++, and the Linux embedded operating system is a plus.

· History of collaboration across functions, such as software, mechanical engineering, project management, and manufacturing operations.
