Job Description

Director of Technology to supervise the college's information technology staff and assist them in providing on-site and remote support for desktop, mobile and laboratory computing to over 900 employees as well as principal-responder support for classroom technology in eight academic buildings.

Duties/Physical Demands:

The Director of Technology works with the Dean or Associate Dean to provide strategic technology planning and operational guidance for the College of Arts & Science. Plans and implements strategic information technology services within the college. Manages and supervises six technical support staff. Acts as liaison with IT Services and technology support in other academic divisions. Creates and maintains inventories of information technology assets within the college. Ensures that college information technology complies with regulations and policies. Facilitates campus-wide technology initiatives within the college. Coordinates installation and maintenance of computer hardware and software systems. Consults with instructors, researchers and staff to determine appropriate technology for their needs. Assists departments and centers in drafting equipment budget proposals.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree; current appointment at Miami University in a college technical support area; minimum ten years of experience in institutional desktop computing support including five years of experience in a university or similar setting; experience supporting hardware and software for Windows and MacIntosh platforms.

Desired Qualifications:

Consideration may be given to candidates with a bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology or closely related field; master's degree; knowledge of Miami's personnel and information technology procedures and policies; experience supervising technical staff; the ability to provide responsive, client-focused support to a diverse clientele. Ability to collaborate with technical and office staff in client units and other institutional support units. Strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.
