Job Description

Admissions Officer £17ph plus holiday pay - South West London

Start: ASAP - End: Feb 2022 The Admissions Officer will work with applications from foundation through to postgraduate taught level. Applications are made predominately through UCAS and the university's online direct application system. The role will review and make decisions on international, EU and UK applications.

Main duties and responsibilities

  • To administer and manage the application process for undergraduate and postgraduate international, EU and UK applicants.
  • Maintaining the student record system with accurate data for each applicant and maintaining accurate information on all application systems (UCAS web link etc.)
  • Checking qualifications to determine offers and applying established academic criteria
  • Communicating offers to applicants via UCAS systems and directly, this will include chasing of evidence to fulfil requirements of conditional offers
  • Assessing the fee status of applicants
  • Liaising with academic departments for processing postgraduate applications
  • Ensuring Declaration forms are completed by applicants and processed by the relevant university department
  • Responding and offering advice to applicant enquiries, applicants and offer holders by email, telephone and in person
  • Producing reports for management and programme convenors on application statistics and recruitment numbers

Confirmation and Clearing

  • To assist in the delivery of confirmation and clearing exercises
  • To offer advice and guidance to enquirers and applicants during clearing
  • To advise clearing staff on qualifications and suitability of applicants during clearing

Registration

  • To prepare records for enrolment
  • To liaise with registry on the registration of applicants
  • To represent the university at internal and external events (open days, registration, graduation and recruitment fairs)
  • To represent admissions at committee/working group meetings as necessary
  • To undertake such duties as may reasonably be required by the admissions manager and senior staff members of the admissions department.

Person Specification

  • Knowledge of domestic, EU and International qualifications at all levels of education, high school, undergraduate and postgraduate
  • Knowledge of fee assessment frameworks and Visa requirements
  • The ability to pay excellent attention to detail and work with a high degree of accuracy
  • An understanding of the need for providing proactive and high level customer service
  • A flexible approach to work, with the ability to prioritise a busy workload, manage shifting demands and ensure deadlines are met
  • Initiative and problem-solving skills
  • Administration skills to plan and organise time effectively
  • Experience of working within the Higher Education sector
  • Experience of working with Management information systems (Student records and application systems)
  • Skills to provide clear and concise advice and guidance to students, colleagues within the University
